Coconuts Beach Resort suffered substantial damage from the tsunami that hit the south coast of Upolu Island on 30th September 2009. The resort will be closed until February 2010 for redevelopment.

About Coconuts
Activities at Coconuts Beach Resort include surfing (surfing breaks can be reached from the shore by good swimmers), scuba diving, kayaking tours to the nearby mangrove forests and half and full day sightseeing tours around the island. There's also a tropical spa for those looking to unwind. Kayaks, mountain bikes & snorkelling gear are complimentary and guest can hire cars from the resort to explore the island or vist Apia Town.
There are three types of individual fales: the only luxury Over-the-Water Fales in Samoa, Beach Fales, and the new Royal Beach Villas. All are finished in fine, local materials and feature both air conditioning and ceiling fans, tea and coffee making facilities, electronic in-room safe and mini-refrigerator.
Treehouse Rooms
The 12 Treehouse Rooms are tucked against tropical forest behind the villas. All rooms have private verandas and overlooking the Coconuts pond looking towards the ocean. Rooms are on two levels, all with queen and single beds, a large rock tiled bathroom with bath tub, shower and separate toilet.
Coco Suites
The five suites are located next to the Treehouse Rooms in a small cortyard. Interiors are of similar style furnishings but have larger living area including a separate master bedroom with ensuite, living room and a small enclosed garden with sitting area.
1- and 2- Bedroom Fale
The 1- and 2- bedroom fales (thatch roof bungalows) face the ocean on a sandy lounging area. Interior furnishings are similar to the rooms and suites, with interiors having a raised area at the back of the bungalow for sleeping (either one or two bedrooms), and a lounge area at the front surrounded by glass windows to make the most of the views and ocean breeze. Large stone floor bathrooms with sunken bath tubs and shower are tucked at the back of the bungalow. The 2-bedroom fales are larger in space with the 2 bedrooms having an interconnecting doors for small children or infants.
Over Water Bungalow
Two overwater bungalows are at the western end of the property overlooking a secluded beach and the turquoise lagoon. These bungalows have the smallest living space of all room categories but never-the-less offer an L-shaped room with sleeping and lounge area and a small bathroom with bath tub. A private secluded veranda looks directly over the lagoon with great views along the coastline but does not have steps descending into the water.
Royal Beach Villas
The three villas at Coconuts offer fine and spacious living for couples, families or small groups. The villas are interconnected and can be taken either individually, as a pair or all three together. The main central villa, Matai, is a double storey wooden building with a large lounge suite and master bedroom downstairs, and a mezzanine style bedroom and lounge area upstairs with a veranda boasting wonderful views. Off each side of Matai are two identical smaller villas, Pule and Ali'i, each one connected to Matai by a canopy bridge walkway.These are single storey wooden villas with master bedroom, lounge area and open style bathroom with a waterfall style shower.
