Taufua Beach Fales was completely destroyed by the tsunami that hit the south coast of Upolu Island on 30th September 2009 and many family members lost their lives in this tragedy. We expect the resort to be closed for quite some time and will update this page as news develops.

Located at Lalomanu Beach, Samoa's most popular swimming beach on the east tip of Upolu. This is the pick of several adjacent beach fale properties offering plenty of absolute beachfront fales (open sided) and enclosed fales at the back. There's an excellent restaurant and decking overlooking the beach and the very hospitable local hosts can organize kayaking and snorkelling trips to the nearby offshore islands.

About Taufua Beach Fales
Kayaking and snorkelling trips can be organized along with clifftop walks, sightseeing trips around the island and shopping tours to Apia Town. Airport transfers can be pre-arranged for ST$200 one way. Taufua stands out amongst the many locally run beach fales in Samoa for the variety of accommodation offered with both simple open sided fales with shared bathrooms, to enclosed ensuite fales with private verandas. Although fales are sqashed together with limited privacy, this is one of the few places where you sleep in a fale right on the beachfront. All fales except three ensuite fales share a his and her bathroom across the road.


Open Beach Fale
Open Fales have open sides with coconut blinds lowered for privacy or raised for the sea breeze to pass through, and tarpaulin security blinds in case of heavy rain. A mattress laid upon mats on the floor acts as bedding with a mosquito net.

Enclosed Beach Fale
Three semi enclosed fales have wooden sides, a trellis and curtain front with balcony. Mattresses can be laid on the floor or raised on a bed. Shared bathrooms.

Ensuite Beach Fale
Three ensuite fales are completely enclosed with a lockable door, a tiny ensuite colod water bathroom with flush toilet and a veranda. These bungalows are located behind the open fales and are not absolute beachfront.
